cyclotest FAQ
Simply click on one of the questions below to bring up the accompanying answer:
![]() | What is the difference between cyclotest and other computers? |
cyclotest baby can simply do more. While other cycle computers merely observe one indicator of fertility (either the change in body temperature OR the change in hormone levels), cyclotest baby is able to record and evaluate two indicators of fertility at the same time (temperature and hormone level or temperature and cervical mucus observation). In this way, cyclotest baby can pinpoint your fertile phase more accurately. cyclotest baby also comes with a USB interface at no additional cost that is used for transferring your personal cycle data onto your PC. With this software, you can create, print out or e-mail your personal cycle curve whenever and as often as you want. In the event of unexpected cycle changes, this facility can save your doctor valuable time when diagnosing the cause of these changes. cyclotest baby has been around for over 30 years and has been constantly developed and fine-tuned in order to offer you the latest, most accurate cycle computer on the market.
![]() | How can cyclotest help me to get pregnant? |
cyclotest baby can help to reduce the time it takes to get pregnant. Studies have shown that women who knew when their fertile days were around ovulation and had sex with their partner during this phase got pregnant much quicker than women who were not aware of their fertile days.
cyclotest baby determines your fertile and highly fertile days based on your body temperature. In the mornings, directly after waking but before getting up, you measure your body temperature using cyclotest baby. cyclotest baby then evaluates your temperature reading and displays whether you are in your fertile, highly fertile or non-fertile phase. Being aware of your fertility status each day allows you to coordinate your sexual activity accordingly in order to fulfil your desire to have a baby.
cyclotest baby also informs you when it is useful to observe an additional indicator of fertility, such as the change in your hormones. On these days, you can take a hormone test. cyclotest baby incorporates the result of this test in its calculations and shows you when ovulation is imminent. This is the best time for fertilisation.
![]() | When can I start measuring with cyclotest? |
You can start measuring with cyclotest baby the morning following the onset of your period. It is important to wait for one cycle to complete after coming off hormonal contraceptives because the bleeding that occurs directly after coming off those contraceptives is merely withdrawal bleeding.
On the first day of your period, press and hold down the small round button on your cyclotest baby to inform the monitor that a new cycle has started. The next morning, directly on waking, place the cyclotest temperature sensor in one of the pockets under your tongue, press the large round button and wait for a beep to sound, indicating that the measurement has been completed. Straight after measuring, your current fertility status appears in the display as non-fertile, fertile or highly fertile.
![]() | When and how often should I measure with cyclotest baby? |
You can start your daily measurements with cyclotest baby the morning after your cycle has started. It is important that you have slept for at least 5 hours and that you have not gotten up for one hour before measuring. You don't have to continue measuring during the long non-fertile phase after ovulation.
![]() | Do I always have to measure at the same time? |
You set the time window with the time of your measurement on the morning after the start of your period. The time window is +/- 2 hours calculated from the time of the first measurement in the current cycle. If, for example, you take your first measurement in the cycle at 8 o’clock in the morning, you can take your morning measurements for the rest of the cycle between 6 and 10 am. This time window is redefined for each new cycle with your first measurement, so it’s completely up to you!
![]() | What about alcohol or not enough sleep? |
In the event of irregularities (e.g.: not enough sleep, disrupted night’s sleep, party, alcohol, stress, eating rich food late in the evening, taking temperature-altering medicines/drugs, illness and fever), skip measurement and resume measuring again only when conditions have returned to normal. If there is insufficient temperature data during a cycle, the fertile phase is extended for extra security.
![]() | What about when I'm ill and running a fever? |
Don't take measurements when you are ill with a fever. You can resume measuring normally when you are fit and healthy again.
![]() | What about taking medicines/drugs? |
If you have acquired or have been prescribed a new medicine/drug, you should ask your doctor or your pharmacist whether the medicine/drug in question will alter your body temperature. If it does, stop measuring with cyclotest baby until you have stopped taking the medicine or have finished that particular treatment.
![]() | I cannot view the data on my PC. |
In order to read out the data from your cyclotest baby, you must first put the device in transfer mode. This is done as follows:
1.Connect your cyclotest baby to your PC using the supplied USB cable.
2. Press the large round button on your cyclotest baby (the same way you do when taking your temperature). When the first segments appear in the display, press and hold down the small round button until ‘USB’ appears in the display.
3. Release the small round button. Your cyclotest baby is now in transfer mode and you can view your fertility profile with the PC software.
![]() | Error message "Fertility profile not created". |
The cyclotest PC software creates a PDF file after collecting the data from your cyclotest baby. The error message appears if the program cannot find a PDF Reader installed on your computer or if there is a problem starting the program. Check your system to make sure a current version of a PDF Reader is installed.
